haven't tried the recipes yet because i'm skeptical. I skimmed thru the kindle version trying to get an idea of what was offered. I found a recipe that included "beef stake" (I kid you not). and one recipe for potatoes talked about following the chicken recipe exactly. another place talked about stirring a recipe and suggested using a spoon...really? also, the syntax (at least for the kindle version) seems like english was a second language to whoever wrote this book. finally, it seems like a lot of the recipes include cooking before the sous vide. I got the sous vide for a dump-in-the-bag, seal it, and forget it kind of meal...not for a lot of prep.Product details

Sous Vide Cookbook 200 Healthy Quick Easy Recipes Jeff Jones 9781545225776 Books Reviews
Times and temperatures are way off. Wished I could give it a zero. Word word word word blah blah blah
Recipes are fine, I think. But I'm not sure because I think the book was edited by someone who has English as a second language. It makes wonder if there are mistakes or misprints in the recipes as well.
Some recipes look promising, but the book itself is poorly written and doesn't appear to have ever been edited. Spelling and grammatical mistakes are everywhere, making the book difficult to read. Sous Vide is precision cooking, but that is difficult to achieve when you are left wondering what the author meant by certain directions.
Some good tips and recipes for beginners, and the price is certainly low enough for a look-see. I suspect come of the content was cut and pasted from other sources, and the compiler clearly doesn't speak English as a first language, but you get what you pay for.
Ok for the price. Writing, grammar, spelling.. all pretty bad. But, for the price.. it's ok.
The problem I had was verifying the cooking times. I have been using my sous vide machine for about 10 months and have prepared dishes using the products cooking manual. I also have used two other sous vide cook books. The time on many of the recipes in this book seem off to very off. An example is chicken breasts ( which I have cooked many times). My cooking guide recommends, 150 degrees F for 1 to 1.5 hours. Other cook books recommend 146 degrees F for 1 to 3 hours. This book has the temperature for chicken breast at 168 degrees F for 10 hours, too high too long. The other cook books state that if the chicken is cook longer than 3 hours it will become chalky. None of my other cooking references had cooking time this long and none had cooking temperatures higher than 150 degrees F. I reviewed other recipes in this book and have found their temperatures and times Too High and Too Long. ie wine chicken things - cooking temperature 189F - time 15 hours (
Use at your own risk Cheers.
This cookbook is clearly translated from another language - I think chinese when you read some of the expressions outloud. There are typos all over the recipes, and many of the expressions make no sense in english. It was insulting to me as a reader - if you are going to charge the public, at least pay someone who knows english to go through the translation and make it appropriately written in english. I can't trust the recipes because there are so many mistakes all the way through it. It's a great idea for a cookbook and I was looking forward to using it, but i am returning the book. Expressions like "This delicious dish should be cooked as with water as with fat cream" and "The dish is no juicy but very spicy. It is the best snack for the picnic. . . " and many more like this, reveal that english is not the first language. The recipes may be excellent, but if an author is selling a book to the public, it is that author's responsibility to make sure that someone edited it before it's published.
