An excellent story and having seen the dvd as well, the book told the whole story.
A story of the realisation of a dream,of beating the odds. June Mottershead and her father's legacy is now a world class zoo.
This was a good read, especially after seeing the TV series and to see what continued with the zoo after the series finished.
I enjoyed the BBC series very much, and this memoir added a little detail but the author's writing style caused me to slowly lose interest.
I watched the PBS series so I found it very interesting to read the actual memoir of the little girl in the story. The tenacity of her father and family to keep the zoo going through recession and war was amazing. I truly enjoyed it.
Great book, great read, and great partner to the recent Our Zoo series on PBS. Wonderful to learn of the original zoo from one of its founders.
